One of my favorite chefs is Ina Garten, aka the Barefoot Contessa. She seems so down to earth (hello quarantine giant cosmo), doesn’t make overly complicated recipes and her motto is you don’t have to make everything from scratch. I have nearly half of her 12 cookbooks and in early 2019 attended an “Evening with Ina” in Austin when she launched one of her cookbooks, Cook Like A Pro. It was fun to hear from her how she got started in her career, that she thinks cooking is stressful, what her comfort foods are and how to make the perfect boiled egg.
I always love a challenge (hello former Division 1 athlete) so I was thinking of how I could incorporate Ina into a challenge. I decided that I am going to make an Ina recipe every day in July, similar to Julie Powell’s Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen but obviously not on that level.
