Thirsty Thursday: Sunrise Smoothie

For one week, I ate the PopSugar Clean Eating Challenge.  Sometimes it’s nice to follow a meal plan and not think about what I am cooking on my own.  Today’s recipe comes from Day 1 on the plan–a nutritious, bright, and flavorful sunrise smoothie.  Don’t worry, I’ll be posting some of my other favorite recipes on the plan in the upcoming weeks.  If you need an extra boost of color in these dreary winter months, give this smoothie a try.

 

1 1/4 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1/2 medium orange
1/2 banana, frozen in chunks
1/2 cup shredded carrots
1 tablespoon almond butter
1 tablespoon chia seeds
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth, about 30 seconds
Add ice as desired for a frothier smoothie
