Tuesday’s Tip: Quickly Soften Butter

This happens to me a lot.  I go to bake a recipe that calls for room temperature butter, but I forget to take the butter out of the fridge.  Then, I try to microwave the butter in increments, but somehow I can never achieve the correct consistency.  The butter either ends up not soft enough or too soft.  Well, today’s tip helps alleviate this problem.  Simply place the desired amount of butter on a plate, grab a glass, and fill the glass with hot water for about 2 minutes, or until the outside is warm to the touch.  Then, pour the water out, dry the glass, and place the glass over the butter for about a minute.  Remove the glass and you will have perfectly soft butter!
