Tuesday’s Tip: Skinny your Mozzarella Sticks

My Tuesday’s Tip for your Super Bowl 50 party is to skinny up your mozzarella sticks.  Instead of deep frying them, do a version baked in the oven.  

1 Egg

1/2 Cup Italian Breadcrumbs

2 TBSP Shredded Parmesan Cheese

1/2 TSP Salt, Pepper, and if you want a bit of spice, Cayenne Pepper 

Crack egg in a bowl and whisk

10 Mozzarella Cheese sticks

Marinara sauce for dipping

Cut cheese sticks in half and place in freezer for at least an hour

Place breadcrumbs, cheese, and spices in another bowl and mix to combine

Preheat oven to 425

Line a rimmed cookie sheet with tin foil and spray with cooking spray

Place mozzarella stick in egg

Once the cheese stick is coated in the egg wash, remove and place in breadcrumb mixture

Coat the cheese stick with the mixture and place on the cookie sheet

Repeat until all of the cheese sticks are coated and placed on the cookie sheet

Ready to go into the oven

Bake in the oven for 5 minutes

Remove from the oven and serve with marinara sauce

Note, the cheese may be a little pliable but once you plate them, they will come back to form and they will taste delicious!  Also, in my pictures I put the cheese on a cooling rack placed inside of the cookie sheet.  Don’t do this or your mozzarella sticks will seep through the grate.
