Tuesday’s Tip: How to Fix a Chocolate Mess

I am not going to lie to you guys.  Not every one of my recipes turns out perfectly or even at all the first time I make them.  Case in point, today’s recipe.  It was my friend’s birthday over the weekend and I promised I would make the cake.  I tried making the perfect chocolate cake that is on the back of the Hershey’s chocolate powder box twice, but neither time the cake turned out.  It tasted delicious, but the first one, half didn’t come out of the pan and the second one fell.  It was a mess.  So, instead of trying for a third time, I decided to turn my chocolate mess into a delicious chocolate trifle.  Trifle is an English dessert made by layering thick custard or pudding, fruit, cake soaked in liquor and/or fruit syrup, and whipped cream.

Follow the recipe below for the trifle that came from my accidental cake mess!

1 Cake from mix

1 Large Container of Whipped Cream

2 Packages Jello Chocolate Pudding

2 Cups Milk

4 TBSP Bailey’s or Kahlua

1 TBSP Chocolate Shavings

Optional:  1 cup chocolate frosting

Add half of the remaining cool whip

Layer the remaining ingredients

If using chocolate frosting, add after chocolate pudding (I added the remaining Bailey’s into the frosting to loosen the frosting a bit and make it easier to spread)
