Halloween is tomorrow and if your house is like mine, I have tons of apples around. Earlier this week I posted a hasselback apple recipe (http://www.newsforchews.com/2015/10/meatless-monday-hasselback-apples/) that was delicious. Today’s recipe is a bit easier…caramel apple “nachos”! Recipes that I have seen previously used apple wedges, but since I have a mandolin, I sliced the apples thin. But, you don’t need to have a mandolin to make this recipe. You can either thinly slice the apples yourself or just cut into apple wedges. You can get creative and use the sauce of your liking and top with crushed leftover halloween candy. Follow the recipe below or use as an inspiration!
1 Apple
Caramel sauce
Toppings of choice–I used toasted pecan and chocolate nibs
Peel apple
Using a mandolin, slice apple thin
Cut apples in half and cut the core out of any slices that have it
Lay apple slices in a single layer on a plate
Drizzle with caramel sauce
Sprinkle toppings of choice
Stay hungry…
