If you haven’t joined us this week, I am prepping you for this weekend’s Coachella Music Festival. Monday was all about recipes, Tuesday was all about the fashion, and today is all about skin prep! I wanted to make a natural and at-home face mask with five simple ingredients that most of us have all the time, and it is good enough to eat! I found this recipe on Nutrition Stripped, a Nashville-based blog run by McKel Hill, a registered dietitian and nutritionist.
After using the mask, my face felt rejuvenated, smooth, brighter, and exfoliated. I am definitely going to be making and using this mask a lot more often! Give this all-natural mask a try!
½ avocado
¼ cup uncooked oatmeal
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Simply mash and combine and the ingredients in a small bowl
Apply mask to your face
I applied with a spoon, as I felt I could achieve a more even layer
(Be careful around your eyes)
After 20 minutes, rinse in a circular motion with warm water until mask is completely washed off
Follow with moisturizer of your choice
“The avocado used is loaded with vitamin E, healthy fats and antioxidants to help keep the skin smooth; the lemon juice and apple cider vinegar contain citric acid which may help “brighten” the skin and the apple cider vinegar may help reduce inflammation on the skin (think of breakouts or redness as inflammation ); the honey helps brighten the skin and also thoroughly cleanse with natural antibacterial/antimicrobial properties to it; and the uncooked oatmeal can work as an exfoliant while also soothing the skin. Many all natural skincare lines use avocado in the form of avocado oil. It’s used as a moisturizer and all natural source of free radical damage fighting vitamin A, E, and vitamin C.”
