Tuesday’s Tip: Substitute This for That!

Have you ever been at the grocery store and can’t remember if you have that final ingredient for your recipe and think you do, only to get home and realize you don’t?  So, instead of running back out to the store, you frantically try to find what you can substitute the original ingredient for?  Well, today’s tip will help you!  I almost never have heavy cream in my fridge, nor do I want to buy it for a recipe that calls for a small amount, since the rest will go to waste.  So, instead of heavy cream you can use milk and butter!  For a recipe that calls for one cup of heavy cream, you combine 3/4 cup milk and 1/3 cup melted and cooled butter.  Give it a try!  Do you have a substitution tip you would like to share (or are looking for one?!)  Let me know in the comments below or email me at newsforchews@gmail.com
