Thirsty Thursday: Cheeseboard Tutorial

If you’ve been scrolling through Instagram recently, you’ll see a big trend is cheeseboards. And not just simple ones with cheese and crackers–there are entire tablescapes being built!  Well, when I received a cheeseboard with built-in tools for a white elephant gift, I knew what I had to do. So, while today’s Thirsty Thursday post isn’t a drink, it’s a side to go along with your drinks.  I’ll be making a similar cheeseboard to serve at my Super Bowl party.

Ingredients:

  • Block of cheese (your preference, but I used brie)
  • 1-inch cubes of cheese (about a cup) or individual servings of goat cheese
  • Crackers and crisps
  • Dried fruit
  • Assorted nuts, about 1/4 cup each (I used cashews, tiger nuts and Marcona almonds)
  • Figs
  • Apricots
  • Variety of sliced cured meats and/or salumi such as Sweet Sopressata, salami, Proscuitto, pepperoni, etc.
  • 1/2 cup olives
  • 1/2 cup Artichoke heart halves

Method:

  • Place cheeses on board with about 1-2 inches in between each

  • Drain artichokes and olives and place each in their own bowl
  • Place on opposite sides of the tray
  • Plate crackers in between cheeses

  • Remove a single slice of meat from package and fold into fourths and place in between cheeses (this creates depth on the plate)
  • Repeat until meats have filled in gaps in between cheeses

  • If your board has a divot around the edges, fill with dried fruit, nuts and crisps. If not, fill in spaces on board with remaining ingredients
