Tuesday’s Tip: How to Keep an Avocado from Turning Brown

One thing I love about Southern California is the abundance of avocados.  I typically purchase small avocados and eat 1/2 one day and 1/2 the next day.  One of the most depressing things is when you go to eat the other half and it is completely brown.  Now, I have found the perfect way to combat this issue.  When you cut the avocado in half, spray the uneaten half with cooking spray just enough to lightly mist the entire half.  Then wrap in tin foil and store in the fridge.  When you unwrap the avocado half the next day, it won’t be brown!  This is because the cooking spray acts as a barrier to the oxygen that turns the avocado brown.  A sprayed avocado can last up to 3 days!  Next time you don’t eat the entire avocado, give this tip a try!
