Thirsty Thursday: Spicy Frozen Watermelon

I finally ate one of the last L.A. things–eat fruit from a street cart!  They serve a ginormous serving of fruit, typically watermelon, cantaloupe, pineapple, jicama, mango, and sometimes cucumber with lime juice and chili powder.  So, since the temperatures are heating up, I was inspired by the fruit vendors and made a delicious frozen version!  Follow the recipe below for a spicy frozen watermelon recipe.

1 Small Watermelon

Juice of 1 Lime 

Juice of 1/2 Lemon

1/2 TSP Cayenne Pepper

Toothpicks

Remove rind and cut watermelon in 4 inch strips

Place in plastic containers in one layer

In a small bowl, whisk together juices and cayenne pepper

Juice Ready to be Poured over Sliced Melon

Pour juice mixture over watermelon

Ready to going in fridge

Ready to going in fridge

Refrigerate for 1-2 hours, then pour liquid out

Stick toothpicks in center of watermelon strips 

Ready to go in freezer

Place in freezer for 4 hour or overnight 

Remove from freezer, let thaw for a minute, then plate

Enjoy!
