Happy Fasnacht, or Donut Day! Fasnachts are served at the carnivals during Fat Tuesday or Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent begins. Fasnacht were baked with the lard, sugar, fat, and butter that is typically fasted from during the Lenten season. If you haven’t heard of Fasnacht day, it is an English celebration and also Pennsylvania Dutch.
So, go out and get yourself a Fasnacht and think about what you will be giving up starting tomorrow for Lent!
Today my office is celebrating the day with “donuts” from Fonuts!
