Tuesday’s Tip-A Quick and Easy Snack!

One of my fondest memories as a child was when I had the chance to spend the nights with my grandparents.  I would help my grandmother prepare dinner, set the table, pick a Royal Doulton figurine for the table, then after dinner we would always play Gin Rummy and my grandfather would make popcorn.  I have never tasted any other popcorn that comes close to tasting anything like his!  He would make it on the stove in a copper pot, knew the exact proportions of butter and salt to add, and tossed in a brown paper bag.  Even though my popcorn does not come remotely close to his, every time I have a bowl, it brings me back to these memories.  So, I give you a quick and easy popcorn recipe and a few topping suggestions for you Tuesday’s Tip today!

Place 2-3 TBSP EVOO in heavy-bottom pot over medium heat on stove

Once oil is hot, add 1/2 cup kernels (about 1 1/2 TBSP EVOO to 1/4 cup kernels)

Cover with lid, but leave offset to allow steam to escape

Let kernels pop

Once popping stops, pour popcorn into a brown paper bag and add the seasonings of your choice

In less than 5 minutes you can have a homemade, quick, and easy (and healthy if you don’t load up on the butter)

Here are a few suggestions, besides the basic butter and salt:

Garlic Salt

Onion Powder

Pepper and Parmesan Cheese

Cayenne Pepper

Salt and Vinegar

Lemon or Lime Juices and Pepper

Parmesan Cheese, Dill, and Garlic Salt

Truffle Salt

Cinnamon and Sugar
