I love hummus! And, because the grocery store was out of my favorite kind (I have to have a certain texture), I decided to give making my own a try. Making homemade hummus is something that I had never done before, and after seeing how easy it is to make, I will probably be doing it a lot. (pretty much throw your ingredients in a blender until smooth and combined!!)
It came out amazing! The perfect texture for me and it tasted so fresh! I searched for a recipe and many of the recipes were similar, so follow below for a great tasting, fresh, and easy hummus recipe!
2 Cloves garlic
1 (19 ounce) Can Garbanzo Beans, half the liquid reserved
4 TBSP Lemon Juice
2 TBSP Tahini
Black Pepper and salt to taste
2 TBSP Olive Oil (and about another TBSP for garnish)
In a blender, chop the garlic
Pour garbanzo beans and liquid into blender.
Place lemon juice, tahini, and salt in blender
Stream in olive oil until mixture is blended until creamy and well mixed (If you like the texture before the olive oil, you don’t have to add, but if you like your hummus creamier, then add the olive oil. You can even add more if desired).
Transfer the mixture to a medium serving bowl
Sprinkle with pepper and pour olive oil over the top
Serve with veggies of choice or pita bread.
Stay hungry!
