Ground Turkey and Peas in White Sauce

Today’s recipe was a childhood staple when I was growing up.  I think my Mom made this recipe almost every week.  I couldn’t remember the last time I cooked the recipe, and was craving some childhood memories.  I hope you enjoy this recipe enough to make it a staple in your menu.

1 Package (20 oz) of Ground Turkey or Ground Chicken

1 Small Package of White Mushrooms, sliced

1 Can (10 oz) of Cream of Mushroom Soup

1/4 Cup Milk

1/3 Cup Sour Cream

1/2 Cup Frozen Peas

Olive Oil

Black Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Salt

Coat bottom of a soup pot or deep sautee pan with olive oil over medium-high heat

Brown ground turkey or chicken

Add mushrooms and cook until tender

Either put the ground meat and mushrooms in a bowl or push to the side of the pot

Add soup, milk, and sour cream to pot and stir until combined

(Once combined, if you took the turkey and mushrooms out, add back to pot)

Mix ground turkey, mushrooms, and white sauce together

Add spices to taste

Add peas

Cover pot and turn to low heat

Cook until mixture is heated throughout

Can serve over rice or vegetable of choice.  I like to serve mine over green beans
